Work available now to support a Joint Staff J8 Information Technology Next Support Services Contract.

 

The purpose of this contract is to provide Contracted Advisory and Assistance Services (CAAS) to support analytic, strategic, technical, managerial, and administrative support to enhance the customer’s mission and total force readiness.  The Director Force Structure, Resources, and Assessment, J-8, provides support to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) by playing a significant role in the Global Force Management (GFM) process, the Global Defense Posture process, and Force Structure assessments. The J-8 assesses the Joint force sufficiency, force structure integration with joint strategy, deliberate planning, global defense posture, and current operations. The J-8 conducts assessments to understand and mitigate near-term force management risks stemming from recent and projected global operations. Modeling and simulation, to include war gaming, is used to inform key leadership on various items.  To support these studies and assessments, J8 requires specialized tools, models, and information technology expertise not available within existing Government resources. 

Responsibilities

Functional Description:

Performs high level functional and IT analysis. Manages daily activities of configuration and operation of business systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server, based. Optimizes system operation and resource utilization, and performs system capacity analysis and planning. Provides assistance to users in accessing and using computer system. Maintains organization’s servers and workstations. Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Applies principles and methods to difficult problems in technical areas to arrive at automated solutions. Designs and prepares technical reports and related documentation, and makes charts and graphs to record results. Prepares and delivers presentations and briefings.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience Requirement:

  • Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college or university with a curriculum or major field of study in computer science, information system plus three (3) years of task related experience;

OR

  • Associates’ degree from a college or university with a curriculum or major field of study in computer science, information system, plus six (6) years task related experience;

 OR

  • Applicable training certificate issued in accordance with guidelines provided by the software vendor (i.e. Microsoft MCSE/MCSA, Oracle DBA,) from an accredited training institution plus ten (10) years of task related experience.

 

Additionally, must be certified in compliance with DoDD 8570.01m as an IAT level 2, including an operating system / computing environment certification from an accredited training institution or center for specified software.

 

 

 

This contractor and subcontractor shall abide by the requirements of 41 CFR 60-1.4(a), 60-300.5(a) and 60-741.5(a).
