Title: Source Analyst - Battlespace Awareness

Location:  The Pentagon

Clearance:  MUST possess a current Top Secret (TS) Clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility


The Source Analyst supports the JCIDS processes to include analyzing Combatant Commander, Service, or Defense Agency issues and analyzing capability documents such as ICDs, CDDs, CPDs, Joint Concepts, White Papers, & Concepts of Operations (CONOPS). Further, they provide comments and recommendations to action officers for consideration and provide written draft assessments of assigned topics, such as identified capability gaps and on-going/future assessments. Source Analysts will analyze proposals, assess new capabilities and propose recommendations to fill gaps.


General Skills & Experience:

  • Provide analytical and technical expertise to support assessment of JCIDS topics
  • Facilitate and prepare FCB working group recommendations
  • Provide technical expertise to the applicable FCB Chairman's Program Recommendations (CPR) and Chairman's Program Assessments (CPA) process
  • Provide collaboration and coordination for Joint Staff Action Processing on items related to the task being supported
  • Analyze Combatant Command Integrated Priority Lists (IPL) in order to address matters relating to the task the contractor is supporting
  • Conduct research activities focused on project requirements and deliverables
  • Participate in the conduct CBAs, assess programming impacts of new capabilities
  • Review/analyze related project reports to ensure accuracy/validity
  • Analyze information using basic statistical and logical methods
  • Report analysis and research results through formal and informal briefings and through formal and informal writing
  • Prepare and participate in the delivery of presentations explaining and defending research and analysis results
  • Works well within a team

Specific FCB Support Requirements:
The contractor shall support the FCB process by providing analytical and technical expertise across the spectrum of the Battlespace Awareness (BA) FCB functional areas and responsibilities. Specifically, the contractor shall be capable of conducting required capability evaluations through assessments and studies to support the analytical underpinning for developing and refining issues that support JROC recommendations. Contractors shall also employ their functional and technical expertise in participating in strategy and planning development, programming, resourcing activities, and a variety of feedback avenues specifically related to the BA FCB equities. Some of the specific tasks shall include:

  • Reviewing JCIDS proposals for compliance with applicable guidance
  • Update, maintain, and be familiar with, at all times, the BA FCB portfolio

  • Support assessment of BA-related topics including:
    • intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR)
    • planning and direction (P&D)
    • observation
    • tasking collection, processing, exploitation and dissemination (TCPED)
    • analysis and production (A&P)
    • blue force tracking (BFT)
    • Joint blue force situational awareness (JBFSA)
    • space situational awareness (SSA) issues at the collateral and compartmented levels
  • Support review of and provide recommendations on identified issues and provision of prioritized recommendations to resolve capability shortfalls within the BA FCB portfolio
  • Support for PPBE analysis
  • Analytical assessment of capabilities
    • draft Comment Resolution Matrixes
    • upload Comment Resolution Matrixes into the Knowledge Management/Decision Support application
  • Provide support for documenting of the following: analysis planning, data collection, coordination, assumptions, meeting minutes, trip reports, monthly activity reports, and results of analysis associated with other tasks

Required Education And Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum ten (10) years of task related experience, OR
  • Graduation from a military command and staff college with a minimum ten (10) years of task related experience (5 of which earned as E-6 or O-3 or above), OR
  • A combination of fifteen (15) years of military operational experience ( 5 of which earned as E-6 or O-3 or above).  Operational experience includes planning and executing combined and joint operations at the theater or component level, knowledge of combat arms, all source intelligence analysis, logistics, civil-military operations, and site’s area of responsibility or functional area and task related experience
