    Position:  Senior Source Analyst - Force Application

    Location:  The Pentagon

    Status:  Full-time, salaried (exempt)

    Clearance:  Must have current TS clearance (based on SSBI completed w/in the last years) w/SCI eligibility.  Must be verifiable in JPAS.



    The implementation of the Joint Capabilities Integration Development System (JCIDS) resulted in the Department of Defense moving from a requirement-based to a capability-based methodology used to assess and develop current and future war fighting capabilities. Included in this transition was the establishment of the Force Application Functional Capabilities Board (FA FCB), and the Force Application Working Group (FAWG), both chartered to provide assessments and analytical support to the Director of the J8 in support of the Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC). The FAWG and the FA FCB are comprised of representatives from each of the services and various departments from the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Future capabilities that fall within the Force Application functional area are submitted to the FAWG and FA FCB for consideration and assessment through the JCIDS process.


    Force Application Division (FAD) is primarily responsible for support, organization, administration, and coordination of the FAWG and the FA FCB. The FAWG and FA FCB provide Joint War fighter perspectives, assessments and recommendations for consideration by the Joint Capabilities Board (JCB) chaired by the Director, J8. Historical analysis of the capability assessment process shows that FAD is typically coordinating approximately 100 ongoing assessments in various stages of the JCIDS process in support of the FAWG and FA FCB.


    The Senior Source Analyst shall:

    • Complete analysis & assessments of FA FCB JCIDS and directed topics
    • Coordination of JCIDS and FCB/JCB/JROC Issues
    • Prepare draft reports, study summaries, formal briefings, &supporting material
    • Provide analytic & conceptual support to CBAs that range from specific material solutions (such as new weapons platform) to non-material change proposals (such as training initiatives)
    • Support analysis and assessments on topics that the Force Application FCB and its working groups have been assigned to support
    • Coordinate with other FCBs to ensure consideration of Joint Warfighting aspects
    • Provide Joint Staff Action Processing (JSAP) collaboration and coordination on items related to the FCB portfolio

    Desired Experience Includes: Joint Staff, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Service, or Combatant Command experience.  Understanding of Joint Staff Requirements Process and in-depth knowledge of the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) and the JROC process.  Familiarity with Joint Capability Areas (JCAs).  Background in  the Force Application portfolio.  Combat Arms experience preferred.  Deployed combat experience a plus.

    - Masters of Science degree from an accredited college or university
    - Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree minimum with completion of MEL4 (command and general staff college service equivalent) of military schooling plus fifteen (15) years of task related experience
    - Combination of 
    twenty (20) years of military operational experience (5 of which earned as E-6 or O-3 or above). Operational experience includes planning and executing combined and joint operations at the theater or component level, knowledge of combat arms, all source intelligence analysis, logistics, civil-military operations, and site’s area of responsibility or functional area) and task related experience. 



    Clearance Requirements: 

    Must have current TS clearance (based on SSBI completed w/in the last 5 years) w/SCI eligibility. Clearance must be JPAS verifiable.
